In addition to traffic signs, AS TREV-2 Grupp also installs speed display boards, which measure and display the approaching vehicle’s speed.
This is a preventive measure aimed at reducing risky driving behaviour. Speed display boards are commonly installed near schools/kindergartens or at the entrance to settlements.
The speed display board has a built-in radar (Doppler) that measures the approaching vehicle’s speed and displays the information to the driver. Alongside the measured speed, the display can also show reminders of the current speed limit, as well as, for example, emoticons expressing approval (smiling) or disapproval (sad), etc., depending on the driver’s speed.
Power is usually supplied from the existing street lighting network (the device has a buffer battery that charges when the lighting is on) or a solar panel.
Most offered equipment record all measured speeds (with times) and allow the road owner to collect statistics if desired.
